Tooling Engineer This skilled individual will have responsibility to ensure that all injection mould tools are designed, and manufactured to meet both customer and programme needs. These requirements must comply or exceed clients tooling and processing expectations. Attention must be given in maintaining cost effective tooling solutions, which gives consistent capability without compromising quality or delivery. The job will require a considerable amount of travel both in the UK & Overseas. Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety procedures. Be proactive in the raising of potential H&S issues and the development of personal safety awareness
Fully understand and ensure procedural adherence to all company business operating systems such as QS 9000, ISO 9002, ISO 14001 and LAPS.
Observe and take part in any applicable Risk Analysis activities both on and off site.
Make certain all mould designs are based on sound engineering principles, which encompasses the best manufacturing practise. This has to be achieved without compromising the internal Automotive manufacturing need, or the customer?s quality requirements.
To accomplish this you will be required to:-
Attend component feasibility & design reviews on site and at customer facilities.
Liase with Quality, Production & Processing Engineering to ensure all manufacturing needs are analysed and met.
Advise on applicable Risk Analysis activities.
Be aware and take part in any applicable FMEA?s appertaining to mould manufacture and processing*quality needs.
Benchmark and implement when applicable new mould tooling*process related technologies. Make use of the analytical services of Mouldflow, Mould Warpage & Mould Cooling.
Prepare and issue individual Tooling specification.
Closely monitor & assess mould tool production throughout all stages of manufacture and mould trials. This will require visits to the manufacturing toolmakers both in the UK and Abroad.
Co-ordinate and implement actions, as a result of trials and customer requests, using internal problem follow-up sheets as applicable and customer ECR?s.
Supply regular written Tooling Reports outlining tooling status, current issues and resolutions.
Prepare and issue individual Timing Plans using Microsoft Project.
Preparation of Pre-Production components when applicable.
Assist in the APQP process.
Participate in the completion of documentary requirements for PPAP activities
Pre-Production and Launch Support within the UK and Abroad if applicable.
